Wind, solar can supply bulk of South Africa’s power at least cost, CSIR model shows
The renewable energy from South Africa’s first wind and solar projects last year delivered R800-million more in financial benefits for the country than it cost, according to a study by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
There’s a new solar farm in town. It’s located off Raffaele Road, and covers 26 acres of what was once a sand and gravel pit. The newly-completed 5.67-megawatt project features 18,000 ground-mounted solar panels that are producing electricity for the city of New Bedford.
